This term we are learning about myths and legends with Mr Vanner. Mr Vanner is our student teacher this term. He is with us for eight weeks. Mr Vanner has a strong interest in tikanga and te reo. We have been writing our own myths, about how humans were made.
In maths we have been looking at measurement. We have been testing paper airplanes in the hall to see how far they would fly and how long it took to fly by using stop watches.
We have been improving our fitness by going to the hall and doing exercises, such as push ups, squats, sit ups and learning proper stretches to do every day. Mr Vanner is a keen athlete and has set up a challenge for us all - our own personal goal of improving our level of fitness.
In the mornings we have been saying a karakia and Maori Waiata called Tai Aroha and listening meditation music. Today we supported Room 1 with stripping and preparing flax for plaiting and weaving. This was a challenge to keep Room 1 students focused.
